Permissions!

Character: Po

Mun: The Sheep

Contact me at: iisheep on AIM, PM at this account.

Before Po becomes well-acquainted with anyone, I realize that I should probably make this permissions post to deal with his abilities. Po’s abilities are completely out of his control; he can’t focus them, heighten them, or turn them off, so everyone around him is affected by them. But I understand that in RP, there are some muns who don’t want their characters affected for various reasons. I’m perfectly open to fudging a reason for Po’s powers not work on these characters or coming up with some other way around it. If you could all fill out this meme when you see it to tell me what Po should and should not be able to do, I would be grateful.

Explanation of Po’s powers:

Po has a double ability. His first ability is a sort of low-level psychic ability. He can sense the thoughts of others but only the thoughts that pertain to him. He can’t tell who you’re in love with, but he can tell if you’re attracted to him. He can’t tell if you’ve ever killed someone, but he can tell if you’re about to stab him. He can’t sense if you hate your father or want to hug your inmate or sometimes wonder how your warden might taste. The only thing he knows is your intentions and thoughts toward him.

His other ability is a sense of the physical world around him. He can sense the presence and movement of other people and objects around him. He knows if someone is approaching on the other side of a door, even if they walk soundlessly. He knows when someone is running above him or if there is a tiny insect below his feet. He can sense the shapes of objects, and sometimes he can guess at textures. His sense of people becomes stronger the better he knows the person in question. His sense of strangers is a bit blurry, whereas he can sense every hair on the heads of his best friends and family.

I’m definitely okay with characters who need Po not to be able to sense them in one way or another, but I should warn you that Po uses his powers a lot. He’s recently gone blind, so he leans heavily on his extra senses to understand the world around him. He may have a hard time communicating with a character who he can’t sense at all, though I’m sure that would be a fun challenge for me as a mun!

Permissions:

1: Can Po sense your character’s thoughts toward him?

2: Are there any circumstances in which you would like him not to be able to read your character’s thoughts?

3: Can Po sense your character’s body and movements?

4: Are there any circumstances in which you would like him not to be able to sense your character’s body and movements?

5: Would you like him to be able to sense you only from up close, or is it okay if he can sense you from a farther distance (as much as half the length of the barge away)?

6: Does YOUR OWN character have any telepathy? If so, can they sense Po’s thoughts?

Concrit!

This is the post in which I ask for your opinion on how I play Po. Is he too emo, too happy, or not perceptive enough? Tell me here and I promise that I will not use my own Internet Wank Grace on you.

03. [Spam for the gym]

[Po has been more than a bit frustrated that none of his own brothers visited the barge. He would have liked a simple note, even if that would have meant having to fight with his communicator again to make it read the note out to him. Spending all of this time among strangers in a constantly changing atmosphere has begun to make him feel very lonely indeed. He knows he shouldn't feel lonely, for there are those who have been aboard the vessel far long than he has; that just makes him feel worse.

And now there's the fact that he finally has an inmate of his own. Flemming. It is a relief, on the one hand, to have already met the man that he is to work with. But now... now he has been given Flemming's file. Now he knows what happened to the man, and why he has done what he has done. It seems unfair that he should know so very much about a man that he has only just met.

But he can't talk to anyone about it. He can't talk to anyone right now, not willingly, for it makes his head hurt. The area behind his eyes aches as if it has been dashed against a wall, and his head swims. He needs a break. He needs some peace.

Which is what has driven him down the hall, toward the gym. He hasn't set foot in there since arriving; he's been too frightened to test his limits and find himself handicapped. But he knows now that fighting, moving, being on his feet clears his mind, makes him live in the moment. Gives him the stability he so craves. So here he is, stepping foot into the great chamber, unsure and nervous, but unable to leave.]

02. [Spam]

[Po is standing in front of the elevator on the third deck, hands in his pockets. He seems to be staring intently at it. His posture is very relaxed, but there's obviously something about the elevator occupying his mind. Every so often he jabs one button or the other with a finger and waits for the doors to open, but he doesn't get on. That, for anyone who wants to know, is because he's ridden the elevator up and down for the past hour. He's still fascinated by it. If you speak to him, though, he will be happy enough to make conversation with you.]

01.

[A new voice comes from the communicators. It is low and just a bit gravelly, with a gently lilting accent. For a moment it is muffled, as if someone has his hand over the microphone, but then it clears up.]

Ah, hello? Is it true that if I speak into this device, people can hear me from afar?

[There is a short, disbelieving laugh.]

It's marvelous. Whoever invented it should sell it to my people. They would become hideously wealthy in days.

[Action spam for anyone on level 4.]

[The man walking down the corridor has the strangest eyes. One is pale and silvery; the other is not so much brown as golden. Each color alone could be considered beautiful, if unusual; but both set in his face they end up making him look jarringly uneven, rather than beautiful. He's also got small gold hoop earrings in each ear and a hoard of rings on his fingers. His simple travelling clothes look old, but they are clean and look as if they may once have been expensive. He's got a long stride, but he is walking unhurriedly. In his hand is the communicator, which his thumb keeps grazing over. If you approach him, he will smile and greet you.]
